Privacy Settings

Last updated: 27 August 2026

I care about keeping the data collected on this website limited and transparent. This privacy policy explains what information is processed when you visit silkevoigts.de, why it is processed, and what choices you have.

1. Responsible person

The person responsible for data processing on this website is:

Silke Voigts
c/o Martin Werner
Hoyer Bogen 16
21224 Rosengarten
Germany

Email: Email address requires JavaScript

The c/o address above is currently provisional.

2. Hosting and delivery

This website is hosted using GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare.

When you access the website, technical information necessary to establish and secure the connection is processed by these providers. This can include your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, date and time of access, and technical request data.

GitHub may log visitor IP addresses for security purposes. Cloudflare processes network traffic in order to deliver and protect the website.

This technical processing is necessary to securely provide the website.

3. Analytics

Analytics are only activated if you consent.

I use a custom analytics system to understand how this portfolio is used and to improve its content, usability and experience.

When analytics are enabled, the following types of information may be collected:

  • page visited and page title
  • previous page within the website
  • referring website or service
  • date and time of the visit
  • approximate country and city
  • device category, such as mobile, tablet or desktop
  • browser and operating system
  • screen and viewport dimensions
  • light or dark colour scheme
  • interactions with selected elements of the website
  • campaign information such as UTM source, medium or campaign

Analytics data is processed using Cloudflare Workers and stored in Cloudflare D1.

I do not store:

  • your IP address
  • a hash or other identifier derived from your IP address
  • persistent visitor or user IDs
  • complete user-agent strings
  • detailed hardware fingerprints
  • complete referring URLs
  • URL query strings
  • advertising click identifiers such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, TikTok, LinkedIn or X click IDs

The legal basis for this processing is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Analytics data is retained for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised.

You can withdraw your consent at any time through Privacy settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before withdrawal.

4. Privacy preferences and browser storage

This website does not use first-party cookies.

Your privacy choices are stored locally in your browser so that the website can remember and apply them.

The site stores:

  • whether you accepted or declined optional tracking
  • whether you activated a no-tracking preference
  • which individual CodePen embeds you explicitly permitted

These settings are used only to remember and apply your privacy choices.

If you consent to analytics, the previous internal page path may also be stored temporarily in your browser’s session storage for the duration of the current browser tab. This is used to understand navigation between pages and is cleared when analytics consent is withdrawn.

You can review or change your choices at any time through Privacy settings in the footer.

5. Interactive CodePen embeds

Some case studies contain interactive prototypes hosted by CodePen.

CodePen content is not loaded before you have either:

  • accepted optional services through the privacy dialog, or
  • explicitly chosen to load an individual CodePen embed

If you decline optional services, you can still activate individual CodePen embeds. The identifiers of those explicitly permitted embeds are stored in your browser’s local storage so that they can load automatically when you return.

When a CodePen embed is activated, your browser establishes a direct connection to CodePen and its infrastructure.

CodePen and service providers used by CodePen may then receive technical information such as:

  • your IP address
  • browser and operating-system information
  • language settings
  • referrer information
  • information about the embedded CodePen being requested

CodePen may also use cookies and browser storage.

Once a CodePen embed has been activated, the processing of data by CodePen is also subject to CodePen’s own privacy practices.

The legal basis for loading CodePen embeds is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where information is stored on or accessed from your device, your consent under § 25(1) TDDDG.

You can withdraw or change your consent through Privacy settings.

6. International data transfers

Some of the service providers used to operate this website are based in the United States or may process data outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, the relevant provider is responsible for using an applicable transfer mechanism and safeguards as required by European data-protection law.

Further information about international transfers and the safeguards used by individual providers can be found in their respective privacy policies.

7. Necessary website operation

Some processing is required even if you decline analytics and CodePen.

This includes technical processing necessary to:

  • deliver the website
  • maintain network and information security
  • prevent abuse
  • remember your privacy preferences

Where personal data is processed for these purposes, the processing is based on the legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional website pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Storage or access to information on your device that is strictly necessary to provide a service you requested may take place without consent where the requirements of § 25(2) TDDDG are met.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal data concerning you
  • request correction of inaccurate data
  • request deletion of your data
  • request restriction of processing
  • object to certain processing
  • receive data you have provided in a portable format where applicable
  • withdraw consent at any time
  • lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority

Because the analytics system deliberately avoids persistent visitor identifiers, I may not always be able to identify a particular analytics record as belonging to you.

The GDPR does not require additional identifying information to be collected solely in order to identify a data subject.

9. Changes to this policy

I may update this privacy policy if the website, the services it uses, or applicable legal requirements change.

The current version is always available on this website.
